When Jim and Joy Patton decided it was time to move from a 55-plus community, they chose Jenner’s Pond. The couple was looking for a continuing care retirement community, with personal care, healthcare and wellness programs, as well as any other assistance they might need. They moved into a cottage here in July 2020, just a few months after the start of the pandemic.

“There are many great activities here.” Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Sharon Silverman was always active. She and her younger sister went roller skating and bike riding. In high school, Sharon played intramural sports, archery and bowling. As an adult, she believes that exercise is key to aging well.

Gus Santos and his wife, Inge, have lived outside the US and traveled to many countries and states in the US. They looked at retirement living in Florida and in the mid-Atlantic. Ultimately, the couple chose Jenner’s Pond. “We had a trial period in one of the apartments here and visited the cottages and had meals with the community,” Gus recalls. “The cottages were a nice size. The other places we had visited were about half the size.”

We have been super comfortable here.” Hugh and Linda Wyles loved their 55-plus community. “But rather than waiting until we are 80,” they said to each other, “let’s move in our 70s and meet people.” So, in January 2022, they moved to an independent living apartment in the Ewing Building overlooking the gardens at Jenner’s Pond.

The cost is affordable, but the community is upscale.” Staying sharp by staying active When Anne Adams moved to Jenner’s Pond in November 2022, she noticed that the in-house Morrie’s Pub was closed on Saturday nights. Recognizing that Saturday can be a lonely night for single people, she volunteered to tend bar to make sure it stayed open.
